Trap Pond State Park – Wildlife

Trap Pond State Park – Wildlife

Here is the follow up from my previous post with some of wildlife I managed to photograph at Trap Pond State Park in Delaware a few weeks ago. The great blue herons are common here and are somewhat used to humans so you can get kind of close to them, I managed to snag a great takeoff shot of one bird. As my father and I were cruising along the coast of the lake in the canoe I happened to glance up into a tree and see what looked like a ball of gray fur. I told him to turn the boat around and we took a close look. To our surprise it was pair of racoons sleeping in the tree with what must have been a great view over the lake. They were hidden in the tree pretty well but I managed to get one decent shot of the younger one looking at us. They eventually tired of us and went right back to sleep so we continued on our canoe trip and let them get their sleep. You can view all the post from our Trap Pond trip here.
